Evidently, if you happen to vote in Rensselaer County, New York, you can vote for Barack Osama.
"It's just a typo, and both sides agree." Sure they do. What that means is that the county Republicans are calling it a typo and the Democrats are hedging their bets that it's best to give the benefit of the doubt, try to take the high road, and let the ridiculousness of the situation speak for itself, rather than fussing about it and making more of it than need be made. I can't entirely fault the decision -- the longer this is talked about, the less need for McPalin to flirt with drawing the connection themselves; the Democrats will be doing it for them.
But still, typo? What kind of lame excuse is that? That's implausible deniability, predicated, as I said, on the inability of the aggrieved party to respond effectively.
After all, it's not as if the S and B are even in the same ZIP code on your average QWERTY keyboard . . .
