Very exciting stuff -- I've got an article in the current issue of the Virginia Magazine of History and Biography.
My abstract can be found here.
Everyone go buy a copy and read it! :)

SWEET!
Got my first invite to a major international conference today -- this is very different for me than submitting a paper or panel abstract. They came after ME.

Religion in the Jury Room:
I'm working on and through the Fourth Circuit's decision in Robinson v. Polk and the Colorado Supreme Court's decision in People v. Harlan. They have a concern in common, central to Harlan and a part of Robinson.
It's befuddling how one court can get it so right, and the other so very wrong -- using startlingly similar reasoning. Granted, the one that "got it wrong" may have gotten it right had it been in a more enviable position, one from which it had greater latitude, but still -- amazing.
